ABOUT US - THE PEOPLE
WPML was created by Alan Walsh, formerly a leading retirement property journalist with over 25 years experience of the UK retirement property market as founder and editor of Retirement Homes & Finance magazine.
Alan was also a founder of the Association of Retirement Housing Managers (ARHM), the British organisation to which all responsible retirement housing management company belong and which ensures high standards of care and proprietary in the management of retirement homes. The ARHM's code of conduct protects residents at a vulnerable time in their lives.
Member companies include Peverel Management, Hanover Housing, Guardian Housing and more than 50 reputable management organisations.
Alan realised the potential of southern Spain as a retirement location and has spent more than five years advising developers and agents on the needs and requirements of UK retirees who are thinking about retiring to Spain.
He realised that in addition to its superb climate, Spain offers British people a relaxed lifestyle so beneficial to health at a much cheaper cost than the UK, backed up by free health provision far superior to that available at home.
WPML's co-directors are Elliott Matthews and Carl Walsh.
Elliott Matthews - Before joining WPML, Elliott spent 10 years running his own UK based property company. Elliott brings to the business a great deal of experience in finding, sourcing and inspecting new developments for our clients to ensure that they are able to buy the property which most suits their needs.
Carl Walsh - Since graduating from Salford University more than 10 years ago, Carl has worked in a number of marketing and communications roles - More recently as Brand Communications Director in a top 10 UK advertising agency. He is now bringing this extensive experience to the marketing and IT departments of Walsh Property Management Ltd.
OUR PARTNERS
WPML works only with reputable developers and agents in Spain on retirement developments the directors have inspected personally. In most cases, the directors' experience of the retirement market has a direct bearing on what is eventually built and offered for sale.
This consultancy work takes place at the planning stage of most developments.
WPML represents only developments we know will be right for UK residents and rejects many more developments than it accepts to represent.
SALES AND SERVICE
WPML offers a very personal sales and advice service. Clients who are considering retiring to Spain will deal with the same WPML director throughout the the entire process of purchase.
WPML gives a guarantee of no pressure selling at any time - particularly on Inspection Visits.
Information and guidance is given every step of the way. The buying process in Spain is naturally very different to that of the UK but the client will be guided at every stage.
WPML works in Spain with multi-lingual colleagues expert in all aspects of Spanish property law. The company also works with English-speaking Spanish solicitors independent of developers and acting for the client.
Inspection Visits are limited to a maximum of six people and are often no more than two or four. They are usually accompanied by a director. Clients are looked after all the way with direct flights, four or five star accommodation, transportation, etc.
We believe the trip should be an enjoyable mini holiday as well as a fact finding sales mission.
